Lightspeed Racing Team
Dean began closed course road racing in 1999 in the Vancouver Island series, and in 2003 in the BC series, under the team name Lightspeed Racing. Over the years of racing the Island series at Saratoga Speedway (1999-2010), Dean managed Second place in the series championship in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and in 2007, and First in the championship in 2006 and 2008. And over the years of racing the BC series at Mission Raceway (2003-present), in 2011 Dean won the Open SuperSport Championship aboard a 2005 Yamaha R1 (also getting Second in points for the Western Canadian Championship for that class) and was Second place in the 250 Production class aboard a 2005 Kawasaki ZZR250, in 2012 he was Second in the Middleweight Twins class championship aboard a 2007 Suzuki SV650. Dean managed Second place in 2015 in the Middleweight Superbike Championship, First place in the Middleweight Superbike Championship for 2016 and 2017 on a 2001 Yamaha R6, and Second place again in 2018 on a 2004 Yamaha R6. Also dabbling in supermoto racing with the Victoria Supermoto club from 2017 to 2019, Dean podiumed a few times but mechanical issues with his Aprilia SXV550 prevented any decent points accumulation. For 2024, Dean will race a 2010 KTM690SMC supermoto in the WMRC Supermoto class, and a 2013 Suzuki SFV650 JHS Racing built Supertwin in the Middleweight Twins class.
Dean has been lucky enough over the last eight seasons to be sponsored by mechanic Duane Forth of Dragonfly Cycle Works, just around the corner from Lightspeed Dyno Service. Duane has done everything from suspension work, brake service and valve adjustments, all the way to building race engines for Dean, and the bikes have always performed flawlessly under the extreme demands of racing. Obviously, Lightspeed Dyno Service highly recommends Dragonfly Cycle Works for all motorcycle repairs.
